College-age Boost Mindfulness Group
February 28, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am EST
An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Friday, repeating until March 13, 2020
Our team at Solstice Point Counseling is providing our college age population with a two-hour process and psychoeducational group to address challenges with self-esteem, confidence struggles, and self-image concerns. By incorporating process with psychoeducation material to educate and boost positive thoughts clients they will begin to see changes in how they perceive themselves. Our group has been designed with a collaboration of material from a therapeutic and nutritional approach. The group sessions are co-led by a clinical therapist and a registered dietitian simultaneously providing clients with abundant support.
The material with this approach helps clients work through challenges when faced with confidence concerns, searching for values of self-worth, self-esteem boosting skills, body image challenges, and less
comparing to others and focusing on finding happiness in oneself. This material follows a holistic approach with a curriculum developed from our Solstice Point Counseling clinical team giving clients an opportunity to identify triggered areas and work through them in a group setting.
This material is applied in our group settings and teaches clients how to apply mindfulness practices to everyday life when needed to distract from stress or overwhelming emotions. Allowing clients to learn and
practice different mindfulness skills and activities that can be used outside of treatment to help reduce stress and anxiety. Group members are provided with education on coping skills, social interaction skills, and allowed the opportunity to process freely among the other group members.
This material has been developed specifically from a nutrition perspective by our registered dietitian allowing group members to adapt to a different approach to food and rules about food. Having a healthy relationship
with food is a positive step in the right direction. Group members will be challenged to combat their current food rules and participate in activities centered on mindful eating and the philosophy that “all foods fit”. This group allows for an open discussion around the struggles with food and body image. Basic nutrition
education is provided.
